I'm in real need of getting a decent 2-way alarm and cannot afford to pay $400 or so to get one installed at the local stores. I'm thinking about buying a Audiovox Informer APS-996A from cardomain.com (I have no idea where to find another 2-way cheaper outside of ebay so if you know please tell) I've done all my soundsystem work face, components, amps, subs etc, and am working on my engineering major (I'm pretty good with electronics). How much technical knowhow is needed to install this alarm? Does it come with instructions? What about my factory alarm (I have an 02' Silverado).

Any input would be great.

try www.audiooutfitter.com they have the new scosche 2way alarm which is the same as compustar 2way. it runs around $225 for alarm and remote start. If you doing just an alarm it shouldn't be to difficult. it gets harder if your going to install remote start. your ? about factory alarm the after market one doesn't effect it. if thats your ?.
