HELP: :)I have installed a TOAD alarm in my 1999 Land rover Td5 defender and have a small problem. The alarm arms with the drivers door open, but refuses to arm with it closed. It is something to do with the door pin switch, but i cannot work out what. The vehicle has a courtesy light delay built in? Can anyone help me before i go bald as have been pulling my hair out all dayxx(. All I can think of is to not connect to the door switches but this defeats the object. Dave

Not familiar with that alarm but does it have multipule inputs for door triggers, both positive and negative or just one or the other. Sounds like the door trigger is hooked up backwards. If the alarm needs to see a neg to trigger, make sure you get that when the door is open. If the alarm reguires a different polarity than the car is providing then you will have to change it thru a relay.

Hi, it has both - * + trigger wires. I 'presumed' that the door switch was - as it earthed to chassis when door open? How do I check to tell if it is - or + to switch? Sorry to seem dense, but reality has got the better of me today....

If it gave you a neg- when the door was open make sure its hooked to the neg- door trigger of the alarm. It sound like you've got it hooked to the pos+ door tigger of the alarm.

er, not sure it did??? I just presumed it was negative as it was going to earth? could it have been positive and go to earth?

If you have a meter and you're testing for earth you should get 0 ohms when the door is open. That would mean it is a neg trigger. What ever the trigger is it sounds like your have it reversed, because when the door is open it is telling the alarm it is closed and when its closed its telling the alarm its open.
