Subject: Bypass notification chirp

Hi

I've got the 791XV installed and when I arm the car, 3 seconds later the siren chirps again. I checked the manual and this is supposed to indicate a bypass notification. I looked at the led and it's flashing twice. The thing is my remote doesn't recieve any zone bypass indication and I tested each one of my sensors and they are still setting the alarm off as usual. Do you know what could be causing this, is it even a bypass notification?

Thanks

A person who works at JB Hi-Fi doing audio and alarm installs. So it was done by someone with experience, in other words not by myself.

Your installer took a half assed way out of using independant door triggers. At any rate there are 2 ways to resolve your problem.
1. Hook the alarm up correctly to the door triggers and NOT the dome light.

2. Door error chirp is a programable option. It may only be accessible by bitwriter so check the install guide.

Door sensor bypass chirp ON/OFF is for cars with factory domelight delay. My car doesn't have that so it shouldn't be the problem.

What kind of car is it? The only time that should chirp is if the door trigger shows it as being open. Now it could be the -multiplex input(hood trunk etc...) that is causing the error but either way it is install related.

Installed into a Skyline R32.  When a zone is bypassed the remote should display it shouldn't it? Well the remote doesn't come up with anything. If it's install related I'm going to have to take it back to him.

An update, I umplugged the proximity sensor today and it stoped chirping. Could it be a faulty proximity or the way the installer wired it. If  the proximity sensor was wired to the same wire as the shock, could this cause it to interfere and set of the bypass chirp?

it might be since when u close the door the shock sensor is still shaking that might send a signal to the proximity sensor and cause it to chirp.... just an idea

You can also turn off the open door chirp to make sure.... menu 2, feature 6. You can also bypass sensors remotely. When arming, press arm again within 5sec, and it'll bupass the shock, press again, and the next sensor is bypassed. This is assuming the installer took advantage of the multiplex sensor input......

Proximity sensors suck.  They are the thing I hate installing the most.  If you want a car to comeback -----  install a prox.  I never get them perfect the first time.

After a drive when I arm the alarm it doesn't give me a bypass chirp. Then when I goto disarm and rearm without entering the car that's when the bypass chirp occurs. So basically the first arm after the key has been in the ignition is fine, but every subsequant arm/diasarm operation will cause it to give the bypass chirp. It's not the shock sensor sending it's signal back because the door is already closed. Anyway next weeek I will be borrowing another DEI 508D proximity sensor of my friend and plugging that in to see if it's a faulty sensor.
