Hello Everyone,

I am going to be installing an alarm/remote start combo into my 98 Rav4 and I have a couple of concerns.   On the wiring diagram from this site, it shows two different wires for unlock:

Door LockBlue/White (-) Driver's Kick Blue Connector Negative Trigger
Door UnlockBlue / YELLOW (-)   Also Blue/Red (-)
anyone know why this is?    Do both unlock wires have to be hooked up together, or just pick one?

also,   This vehicle has two different dome lights, one for the front doors, and one for the rear doors.

I have determined from the wiring diagram that there is two different wires for door trigger,    RED / Yellow and RED / White for rear doors

Can the RED / yellow and RED / white be hooked together to the alarm?    I Think hooking them together will cause problems.  But not hooking up one wire will cause alarm not to be tripped when one set of doors is opened.

any information would be greatly appreciated!!

sorry for the long post.

you need to diode isolate the two door trigger wires so it won't cause any problems and as far as the door locks you can hook to either one, but on unlock one of the wires requires double pulse you just have to check it

Hi everyone,  Well I am installing an alarm/remote start into a 1998 Toyota Rav4.   I am not new to this,  I have done a lot of installing before,  but this one has me stumped.    First of all,  this is a manual transmission vehicle.  The remote start has the safety reservation feature, which is fine,  however,  when I try to remote start the vehicle, I have to hold down the clutch before it will crank,  So I need to know how to bypass the clutch for remote starting.  Also,  when the system tries to remote start (with my foot on the clutch)  the engine just cranks and cranks and cranks...  like it's not getting any fuel.  Is this because of the clutch bypass,  or is something else wrong?

anyone that can help I would MUCH appreciate it!!

thanks in advance.

It sounds like when it's cranking one of the relays isn't letting power to your ignition 1 wire.

The unit I am installing is a PG 8000 Pageguard, from Omnitronic.

I Have figgured out the cranking problem,  I had two wires reversed, it was a screwup in the manual.   Now I just need to know how to overide the clutch.

Some vehicles require a Transponder Bypass Module. Try looking that up.
