I intsalled a combo alarm/keyless entry and remote starter in a 99 Ford Contour SE. Everything works fine except the remote start. I am currently using tachless, but I was getting the same results when I temporarily connected a tach. The car did start four time with tachless, but now all it does is attempt but never cranks. The unit is a Galaxy 5000RS -- One way. I did not install starter kill.

U probably should verify all connections and be sure the FORD P.A.T.S. unit is on during & after cranking

Thanks for the info...but I can I verify if this car has a P.A.T.S? I thought there was no Anti Theft since they had a key made from Home Dept and it started the car.

Some Contours did.........If your key is not the PATS key ( usually a larger key head ) then make sure the Starter wire is connected correctly.  Did you cut the Starter wire in half or just hook the Start wire from the RS to it?
U might want to meter all connections when you Remote Start to make sure you have outputs.

I am not sure if this is a dumb question, but I decided to ask anyway. The contour is overheating. There was no overheating problem until after I installed the alarm. I remember from a previous post I wrote, I was told the ignition wire is also the heater/ac wire. I wonder if the alarm is causing an overheating problem or it is just a coincidence. I will verify my connections tommorrow.

I highly doubt the alarm is causing the engine to overheat, but you never know.  If it is, I would think that you have a very botched install somewhere.

Thanks mo12v and OhioMike1101 ...The problem was a bad connection at the starter wire. I did not put starter kill. FYI....The thermostat was bad.
