I have a viper 791xv in my ranger and it works great. But today i went to remote start it and it cranks but does not fully turn over... When i put the key in the ignition it starts fine though. It worked great before, but randomly started doing this..Any ideas?

I followed the directions to learn the tach signal, and the led didnt light up. I unplugeed the brain to reset everything and tried it again, and still nothing.  :-(

Its possible that whoever installed the remote start chose Voltage Sense posted_image instead of Tach in the programming. I would check that and maybe try turning up the crank time if they did.

You may of lost programming along the way somewhere. If you know where everything run that PURPLE / white wire to your tach wire. And the program it. A lot of people use voltage, but the difference is...voltage isn' t very reliable.

its wierd becuase it was working fine the day before. its a 93 ranger xlt 2.3l. i checked the tach wire and its fine, ill see if its on voltage for tommorrow. the truck litterally starts but as soo as it does it cuts right back off, and the remote start tries to restart it. even if the truck is running and i do the sequence to leave it running without the keys, it will turn off when i remove the key.

do a self diagnostics check. the instructions to do this are in the manual. the led will blink a certain amount of times and let you know if it is a tach problem.

When you add a new remote to an alarm with remote start, it is added with default programming. It sounds like you need to go into the programming and set it up for voltage sense and the crank time and whatever other options may have been changed in the alarm's programming on initial install. Thats why tach sense is so much better than voltage sense. If you have access toa bitwriter(if its a DEI alarm), you can transfer the original programing by selecting "0" when it asked which remotes that you want to have the programming apply for. If not then you gotta count some chirps and reprogram the alarm for that remote. If you're not real experienced in this, I would take it to a dealer.     It could take you an hour and them 5 minutes.
