I have a autopage 505 with the extended range antenna. It's not really extended! I'm 30 feet away and nothing. Is there a way to extend the wire or mount it on the out side of my truck? I need some real distance out of this thing. the antenna is on the windsheld and from the rear or side I have almost no range. Please someone HELP.posted_image

I have found that mounting the antenna under the head liner gives the best range yet. That is just my thoughts.

What kind of car is this in?  Some have solar ray windshields.   Let us know what it is and it might help us help you.

Try not to mount an antenna within the tinted portion of the windshield as this tint interfere's with the signal to the unit. Mount just below this tint.

I've trid below the tint and it's a little better. But I still need some more range, is there any other ideas ? is there a way to use a small radio antenna to extend the range ?  if I connect the antenna wire to a small whip antenna would it extend the range ? has anyone ever tried this ?     Thank for the help

what do you mean the pager unit had the port for areial ?

I would also like to try this, when I get my new Viper 790xv system installed. What would be the best kind of antena to use? How much can it work upto? Will I also be paged on my remote at that distance?

Thanks

has anyone actually gotten that much of a gain by interfacing the antenna with an aftermarket antenna??? if so, how did you do it, what kind of rang increase was there, and what type of antenna did you use???

I've heard other members use the coaxial type antenna and soldered it to the radio antenna and they got significant increase in range. I not sure about the numbers involved but they said it worked well.

The antenna shipped with these units I assume is best. Other methods outside of placement seems a compromise unless wavelegnth is considered. These units operate in a band not any wheres near where other mobile radio devices use. Using other antennas are sure to limit range further.

With experimentation, I was able to acheive another .25 mile over my original location in the upper corner of windshield. (RS-750) Do a search in forums for "Range"

Still very interested in ideas for extending range, but my current 1\2Mile range is OK by me!!!!
