Subject: door trigger on 791xv

I purchased a 791xv with a second transmitter about 3 weeks ago. My problem is with my wife's remote. When I arm the system it will bypass the door trigger. It only does it when it is armed with her remote. Mine works as advertised. When it bypass' the door trigger on her remote it sends the page to my remote that it's bypassed as well. Any ideas on how to fix or what the problem is?

did you have it installed at a pro shop? If so; have them reprogram the unit with the bitwriter; these units have a feature that allows different settings to be used for different remotes and can only be accessed with the bitwriter. I don't know of a feature that would bypass the door trigger; but that's the only way I could see the unit acting differently with two different remotes.

If the door sensor bypass is currently set to on or off, why would it only bypass when armed by my wife's transmitter. It was a pro install about 3 weeks ago, but I'm no longer in the area and the dealer here has no clue what he's doing. First he said it was something in the air! Then he said to just change the battery on her remote. That didn't work.

As I said ealier; DEI alarms have the feature to allow different programming options for different remotes. Say you wanted the domelight on when you disarmed, but your wife didn't. With the bitwriter programmer you can program each remote individually with the features you want. And since there is an option for door trigger bypass in the feature menus, it would make sense to me that the brain was programmed to bypass the door trigger when armed from the second remote. When you get it reprogrammed, make sure you take any remotes you use with you. The unit has to be programmed with the correct features separately for each remote.

So I'm guessing I can't fix it with the valet button, only the writer?

...unless the installer locked the programming mode. But since he didn't know about the owner recognition; I guess it's not very likely that he did this.
