I installed an alarm w/ dual polarity door lock/unlock outputs in a '01 Mazda Mpv. I used a pair of diodes on the lock/unlock wires w/ the cathodes towards alarm module and a 2.2 k-ohm resistor for the unlock wire. But the doorlocks do not work properly. Help please....................

I looked at a couple other vehicle wire databases and one shows  1.2 k ohn resistor for the lock wire through a negative pulse, and the other two show 2.2 K ohm, so you are probable OK there with your 2.2 k ohm resistor, but you need a relay for the resistor.

I don't understand?

my database says 2.2k as well . what you need to do is follow the probe diagram posted_image

only difference is pins 87 goes to ground  85 & 86 on the inside stay with 12 volt and change the resistor to 2.2k ohm

also the unlock is a double pulse.

thanx a lot. I'll give it a try.

TechSoft shows 1.2k ohms on lock. Just another perspective.

I don't know. it's weird. when I ground the cars doorlock wire to chassis using different resistance, it locks and unlocks. but when i connect the two leads from the alarm it only locks; doesn't unlock.

How exactly to you have it wired?  You mentioned that you tried different resistances, which one worked?  ARe you using two relays like the diagram above? There are several databases I have looked at and they differ quite a bit on the details.  Some say that the unlock requires resistence, and others say lock requires the resistence. So in order to be sure of what is going on, I would try getting just the lock to work without hooking up unlock at all.  Then disconnect lock and try just getting unlock to work, or vice versa.  This way you can identify clearly what wire actually required the resistence and which resistence was correct.

Not to throw more confusion into the situation, but I saw a wire diagram that stated some vehicles require 1000 ohm, 1500 ohm, or 2200 ohm resistors.  If the resistors you have dont work, try getting those, or get a trimpot.

If you dont have time to try all this, just tell me exactly how you have it wired.

I will wire it the way securinu has posted. The doorlock wires from the alarm are dual pulse. Do I need to install diodes across pins 86 and 85? Thanx. I love this site!!
