I am currently working on a 2002 Chevy Truck 3/4 Ton. I am putting in an Avital 3000. Got everything hooked up and was going to test it!!! Started the truck with the key to let the 555L learn the r-code. worked fine. went to start it with the remote just cranked over like the bypass wasn't working. Triple checked all the bypass wiring and still the same thing. So i figured it was in long tamper mode so i left the key on for 15min and tried again. this time it starts with the remote and not the key. Just clicks the relay  in the fuse box. I'm stumped. Any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Check your 555L interface wires.  The ORANGE / black should read 5 volts when the ignition is in the on position.  The other wire should read ground.  They should be running along with a third wire, a RED / white.  Did you get the white tach wire at the ECM?  Are your accessory and ignition wires hooked up properly?  To make sure it is a problem with the 555L, if you put the key in the on position and try to crank it, it should start up.  Hope this helps.

Just for everybody who might be interested the problem was an ignition fuse under the hood.

Thanks dcash for the assistance.
