I just bought a compustar 2wss-as and was suprised when i found out the hoops you have to jump through just to start the car. first it has to be in reservation mode which means putting the transmission in neutral, windows up, foot off brake, parking brake on, remove key from ignition, and then exit and close door. the car then runs for 2 minutes and finally shuts off. I really dont like doing all that crap in that order just to be able to remote start my car. so can i just cut the wire in the brain unit and use it as an automatic transmission? what do i need to do to make this work? i know that i have to set up a relay for the clutch switch, and i should also set up a safety for the neutral and parking brake. i know people used to do it this with starters that didnt support manual transmissions. let me know if anyone has felt the same way about this starter or if anyone has info on doing this.

also the compustar manual if full or spelling and gramatical errors. does the status output (cn2) come on one second before ignition, and shuts off one second after ignition only during remote starting or always? is there where i connect my transponder bypass to?

That’s what all the safety feature are there for. Cut the loop and you won’t need to do any of the safely feature to get it remote started. One things you should do first before you cut the loop is check and make sure your insurance policy will cover damages should you forget to take off gear. Other than that a single relay will be require for bypassing the clutch. The status output is what you will need to connect it to the transponder. The status output provides a ground signal before start and shutoff after the brake is applied. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

which wire on the compustar unit do i connect for the clutch bypass.

could i just use the starter output on the CN2? this wire is separate from the main starter wire, but i think it acts the same. let me know if i am wrong. also woudl i have to use a relay with this starter wire? the wire on the compustar unit is negative on start, and my clutch requires negative on start. i should be able to use this without a relay as long as it is low current right? the wires going to my clutch switch are very small gauge.

I don't have the wiring diagram for the unit at the moment, but what you are refering to is the wire for 2nd starter. Only some car will require you to power up the 2nd starter. If your vehicle don't have a second starter wire. You will not need to use it.

If you don't know for sure what the draw is. Use a relay.
Diode isolate the status wire. You can used this wire to connect to a relay for your clutch bypass.

I guess i should start off by better describing my problem. My car requires 2 starter wires. I had a problem where everytime i pressed the clutch the relay would click. I then wiring up the second starter relay to the starter output on CN2. It now doesnt click and remote starts fine as long as i push in the clutch and they key is in the ignition. But now i have a second problem. I need to hook up my transponder bypass module and clutch. Should i use the ignition wire on the CN2 connector for the transponder, and the status wire on CN2 for the clutch? The CN2 is the small wire connector that provides status, accessory, ignition, starter.

If this is the case you will need to power up both of your starter wire.

You can use the status output wire and two relays to tigger both device, the clutch and the bypass module. Place a diode on the status output wire to prevent the feedback from other devices.
