I put an alarm in my friends 2002 toyota tacoma. I found the lock / unlock wire with no problem. The vehicle has the child safety lock system. I was wondering do I need to worry about interfacing with this system. any advise would help me a great deal.

thank you

i dunno weather its the same. but i was looking at a corolla that had a system like that. its a seperate unlock wire also neg.  you just loop onto it. but use diodes to isolate.. i'll see if i can find the exact info again

yeah i was just looking there again.

its a seperate wire and you just split your unlock output to go to both wires use diodes.

the diagram i got used a relay to isolate but i'd say you'd get away with just splitting and using diodes

Some kinda way, if the child safety locks are engaged and you try to unlock the doors with yer alarm, they wont unlock(or so I've heard). I've had to deal with this on several Camrys and Corollas. All I do is split the unlock output (like a "Y") and put two diodes inline with the stripe side on the alarm side of the "Y". The child safety lock wire is usually ble/red or blue/black and is in the same wiring harness as the lock/unlock wires. You can also look HERE for more detailed instructions.
