Hey guys, I have a Compustar 2W900FM alarm on my car and it acts up when the car has been sitting in hot weather for a while. What happens is I press the button on the remote to disarm the car, and the doors unlock and everything, yet on my remote it still shows my doors as being locked and the alarm being activated. Then if I drive the car for a few minutes and park it, it has cooled down with the A/C or with the wind coming in from the outside, then the remote works fine. I called the guy who installed it for me and he said it's a safety feature of the alarm and it goes into a safe mode so that the circuit doesn't get damaged. Is this true? Or did he somehow not install it properly? Thanks.

lol.. It is a safety feature for the installer..to prevent the customer from coming back. Looks like it is working too..almost..
Take the thing back..sounds like a defective brain or remote..

yep sounds like a remote or brain issue.dei has the same problems with there 2way remotes.

It only does it when it's really hot outside though. So you guys are saying I should get the brain and remote replaced? Could it be the guy who installed it did something wrong?

The product is questionable to begin with. Lot of folks like compustar. This is all the typical nonsense associated with it. Of course, I just opened a can of worms for the chest thumpers. In the last 3 days..lots of posting about compustar issues. Go figure.
You had it professionally installed. You paid for it. Product has a lifetime warranty with a licensed compustar vendor. Take the car in, tell them it is unacceptable since it defeats the purpose of being an alarm system with a moody 2-way remote.
That is not a safety feature. Rather, an installer's bullshhh way of pawning off the problem on you. An alarm should work in 100 degrees or -20 degrees if it is a quality unit with a quality install. What safety feature prevents a remote radio from transmitting/receiving in extremely hot weather ? Ask your installer to explain that.. If possible, post this idiot's name/shop so folks can know this genius.

I will be either the remote control or the antenna, not the CPU. If the system is working properly aside fromt this then I would say it would be the antenna & the remote control.

hmm... Im not sure about the 900fm.. but my compustar 2wss had a software upgrade done to it.. i just got mine installed like 2 weeks ago and found out it wasint one of the ones with the upgrade.. i called compustar and im gettin a new one through my dealer :) but shhh.. if u keep having problems just buy the 2wss remote and anteanna and BOOM 2wss :)

When the antenna gets super hot it stops sending. I don't think it's a safety feature, it's just a design flaw. Has nothing to do with the installation or the brain. It probably doesn't get hot enough in most locales to do it, it will do it here in Sacramento a few days a year. It's 109 outside here right now, which is probably 150 inside my car and all my cars are working fine. Of course, it wouldn't if I didn't have tinted windows. Of course, they don't all respond exactly the same, but I'm sure Compustar techs have never encountered this in Seattle (or Canada). Use your remote start to turn on your A/C, it will start working again in minutes. ------------- bzzzzttttt

I just noticed you're in Canada. I'm not sure how hot it gets where you are, but if it's not 130 degrees in your car and your alarm stopped sending, I would have them replace the antenna. Compustar will replace the antenna for your dealer with an advance exchange, so ask them to order you a new one.
