Hello name here is chris and i have a 1993 chevy c-20 van. When i start the van and try to shift into gear it will not shift. I have to first turn the it to the on position and shift it into neutral and then start the van. any ideas thanks

Go to a transmission shop and have them look at it. A lot of time if the shifter is out of aliment you will have problems similar to yours.
