My alarm puts out both - and + outputs foor the door locks.  Does this mean I need to use a blocking diode.

not for most cars what type of vehicle.

in most cases you don't.  these isolation diodes are mostly used when you are using one alarm input to control two locations.  eg. the instant trigger to control the bonnet and trunk of the car.
