Hi,

I'm wanting to install keyless entry on my '96 S10 truck. I've already purchased the system. It's an Avital "Remote Access 2" I found the trucks wiring diagram on this site, but I was unclear on whether I would need to use relays or not. If anyone has more detailed information on this install and what I will need (relays, other parts, etc.) I would be very grateful.  Thanks in Advance, TS.

if the alarm does not come with build in relays then yes you will need to add relays.

Well, that's what I'm not sure about. In the installation manual it says under door locks:

"The AMX38 system has a built in two-stage unlocking capability as well as selectable positive or negative lock/unlock outputs. Reverse polarity type door locks require optional relays."

Does my truck have "Reverse Polarity" type door locks? If I need relays, where would be a good source to purchase them from (either on the net or in store). Thanks again for the help.

some models are positive if they come with a keyless module, all others are 5 wire reverse polarity, which will require two relays. a good spdt relay will do about 3 to 5 bucks. try ebay or parts express. even radio shack might have them.
