I have a Crimestopper Alarm/Remote Starter (CS-2011IV RS) in my 2004 Expedition. The problem is that the remote starter will start the car then shut it off. It will successfully start the car up to 3 times, and then it shuts off. Every so often the car will remain running. I've played around with the "Smart Tach” feature by adjusting the voltage reference, but it hasn't helped the situation. If I connect the Tach wire and use the normal tach mode, will this fix the situation? If so, where should I connect the tach wire? I know all the wiring charts say any coil wire but the GREEN/ red wire, but I have no idea where the coil is.
Thanks for any help.

Yes it would.

A picture is worth a thousand word. Post one up and I am sure a lot of people can point you in the right direction.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

not sure bout american cars but over here alot of Amplifiers are built into the distributor.
You'll know if the amp is built in because instead of having a king lead going into the distributor you will have 5-8 small guage wires going into it and one of the is your boy..
you can test it for AC current and it will measure about 3-5 volts. and the voltage will rise with revs
also distributor can usually be located at the head its run of the cam and is usually to the opposite end to the fly wheels.
P.S. its a cylindrical thing the size of a 33cl can of coke or bigger..
as pencil says take a photo.. and somebody will pick it out for you
you can also get a good tach signal at the PCM, on the pass. side underhood firewall. Its a little silver box. There are 3 connectors on this module. the wire is in the middle connector. Pop the cover off the connector. Top right wire. RED / WHT Its a single cylinder reading, just like a coil. easy!
