I'm looking for some help and I would greatly appreciated if I could get some pointers...
Car: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Transmission: Manual
Installing: Compustar Alarm/Starter
Question#1: Does anyone know which clutch type this car has? Or how to test it?
These are the several types of clutch switches that operate in one of the following ways, but which one is it? Type 1 - Starter Wire Bypass The starter wire travels form the key switch through the clutch switch to the starter motor. Connect the Remote Starters Starter Output wire directly to the starter motor side of the clutch switch. Type 2 - Negative (High Current) This switch grounds the factory starter relay and allows the vehicle to start. Connect a relay to ground the clutch switch wire when the remote starter is activated. The starter wire is connected at the ignition switch. Type 3 - Connect Switch Install a relay to connect the two wires at the switch when the remote starter is activated. The starter wire is connected at the ignition switch. Type 4 - Disconnect Switch Install a relay to disconnect one of the wires at the clutch switch. The starter wire is connected at the ignition switch.

Follow your clutch up to where you see the switch. Its white. Pull that whole lil rectangular box thing out. Now grab a long ziptie, and put it around the switch so that the switch stays down. leave ur car in gear and zip tie the box and remote start away..lol

MY GOD.....have you kids not read anything.....on this sight we DO NOT tell somepoor kid how to "jerry rig" his clutch.....like bobk said do it the correct way. Dont be a fool like shesaidshewas18.....thats the biggest line of crap I ever heard.....and YES Im pissed. works fine till someone gets killed....people like you mr shesaidshewas18, give hard work pro's like me and bobk a real headache....not to mention a bad name in the industry. your eclipse is type 2 NEG....its a GREEN/ blk at the clutch switch. send a NEG start signal to this wire -------------

No need to bust a little hissy fit Mr KarTuneMan. No one taught me how to correctly install alarms like you. When I took my remote start system out, I noticed that the person who did install it, did it with a ziptie. Never once did I have a problem with it. Never did I act like a pro, nor flaunt like I was one. But I bet, no wait guarantee you that how hard I work is equal if not more than you. Sorry I taught you the wrong way like the fool I am ekdude. I plain and simply told you how it was done on my car, and I never had a problem with it. Like KarTuneMan said, it works fine until it kills someone. But he showed you how to hook it up, but it is still possible to kill someone with his method. IMO, (Though some may think its "jerry rigged" find a magnetic switch of some sort and place one side on the bottom of your shifter, and the other on your cars chassi's so that when your car is in neutral, the side of the switch thats under your shifter, would be right on top. If you dont know how to remove your center console, let me know and I'll tell you exactly how to do it. (Only four screws)

ive seen some older DSM have the type-4 circuit. so watch out for that.

Just did one the other day . It's Type 4 and you need a relay to engage the clutch to seperate the wire.

I have also seen Mitsubishi's that are type 4. If it it, you need to cut one of the wires going to the clutch switch. Doesn't matter which wire. Connect one to 30, the other to 87a. 86 to ignition, 85 to ground when running.
To test, unplug the switch going to the clutch. If you can start the car without pushing in the clutch, its a type 4. Make sure its in neutral.....
