Compustar in 68 Mustang

Hi everyone, just joined but have been here a few times before, great site!

I just finished installing a Compustar (actually rebranded to be ArcticStart) 2W900FMR900 (AS) in my 1968 Mustang but there's afew more things I'm wondering about.  You'll have to bear with me as this was my first alarm/starter install....   what all is the Accessory wire supposed to power?  I couldn't find this wire, but don't really know what I'm looking for either!!  Is this just anything I want to have running after the car starts and before I get in?  Should I just hook this wire to the blower motor?

I want to hook up a small backup battery, I think I can figure out the wiring with a relay but what kind of battery?  Should I be using a small cap for the switchover between batteries?  Actually!  Can I just wire in a small cap or something?  I only need power long enough for the remote to get the page... I would have the switchover relay input an alarm when power was lost from the first.

Is there a way that I can get out of my car with the keys and have it keep running if I just need to run into a store or something?

AND!!  One last question!  How come I don't need a relay for the siren?  The tiny wire from the 'brain' hooks straight to the much larger gauge wire from the siren?  Am I just letting the wire sizes throw me off?  Does the siren use less thean 200ma?  No!?

The ACC wire is for the HVAC controls so that the fan & heater controls turn on when remote started. For the back up battery , you will need a dry cell 12 volt back up battery that you can purchase at Princess Auto out on Portage or the one on Panet Rd. THey have these for about $ 15.00 and then get a battery isolator ( here's a wiring diagram : https://www.bcae1.com/battiso.htm ).

If you want the car to run for a while while you go and get something, put the system into TURBO MODE and this will run the vehicle for a pre-programmed time and you can arm the system as well. The BROWN siren wire is a (+) output and it doesn't need to be a large gauge wire. The siren wire on the actual siren is larger because it is installed in the engine bay so it requires more insulation for longevity. I usually pass the siren wire in through the firewall and connect the smaller BROWN wire inside the cab somewhere along with the ground.

lol. also, what did you use to 'flag' the RPM - or do you have an electronic ignition in the system now?

i have a 69 Opel GT myself, and getting the remote starter into it has been an very expensive challenge.

Hey Vinn, not to try to answer the question for umgibso1, but alot of muscles cars back then were automatics and if you were brave ebough to drive the 3 on the tree standard, then you were a gifted person ( especially if you knew how to speed shift ). Regardless, the Artic Start's have a jumper wire that you need to have connected and then you have to go through a ready mode in order for the remote start to work everytime you want to remote start it. It's basically automatic, but you still have to go through the sequence in order for it to start.
