I'm trying to install a Code Alarm CS300 into a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

I'm no professional to be sure, but I've installed quite a few 12V things, including 3  Code Alarm systems.  I must say, the instructions for the CS300 are awful.  The color of the wiring in the harnesses is still correct, but CDA has moved a few wires here and there, combined the valet and LED into one component, etc. WITHOUT noting any of it in the instruction manual...

But I digress...

How do I connect the dreaded "6 pin harness" to the lock/unlock system?  I'd prefer to have the cool one-button press unlocks the driver door, two-presses unlocks all the doors, but the latter is fine.  I really don't want to pry the door panel off and run a wire through that obnoxious rubber door "wire tunnel".

The wiring diagrams on this site state that there are two negative wires representing "all lock/all unlock" and two positive wires representing "driver lock/driver unlock".  When I test the negative trigger wires, they each test at +12 and drop to 0 when either lock or unlock is pressed.  (Sidenote: it seems to work the same for both lock and unlock. How does the system know you mean to unlock vs lock? Is it a toggle situation?)

The positive trigger wires test as expected, being at 0V and going to 12 when either lock or unlock is pressed.  There really is no way to just unlock the driver door alone electronically in the car, as the lock/unlock button for the door actually physically moves the locking mechanism.

Notes by the wiring diagram on this site claim that I need to use a relay... but how?  Neither CDA nor the diagram make that clear.

Any help anyone can offer about this would be greatly appreciated.  Even help in identifying which type of lock/unlock scenario (outlined in the CDA manual) the Cherokee uses would help a great deal.

Thanks,

Bryan

saying you have a six pin lock harness....Im assuming your unit has built in door lock relays...CORRECT?

You'll have a dedicated lock wires as well as unlock. on both take the wires that are labeled N/O, these represent pins 87 on a relay. Ground these 2 wires. Then find from the unlock "group" of wires the wire lables common, or unlock, these are pin 30, take this wire to you unlock wire pink/purple. Do the same for the lock.....goes to ORANGE / purple.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR COLORS ON THE LOCK WIRES, cause as you can see mine show different than what mo12v posted.these are astroflex tech wire colors. Heres a link for DEI

Good luck
