hi guys, ineed some help here. I installed the starter/ keyless system, but I can not get the horn to work. The horn does not work when the ignition key is at the off. I connected the wires as indicated in the charts, which is the L. Green at steering column to the system wire, it did not work. Do I need a relay on this car. Thanks

I connected the device wire to the lt. green at the column, and no horn. The horn on this car works only if the ignition key is on the on position. any ideas will be appreciated

in this problem yes you would need a relay but if you want the horn honk status like chirps for normal people it will cost you the same to get a used siren as it will to get a relay and harness,

what does that mean. Do i need to install another horn. I tries to hook arelay to the system as indicated in the manual and it did not work. I hooked the relay as follows, 86 & 87 direct +12 V, 85 to the device wire, and 30 to the car wire that gets +12 V when the key is at the on position. I realy need this to close the car and get ready for work.

u have to tap the wire at the horn relay which is located at the fuse and relay box in the engine bay. my galant has it, it should be there.... unless yours is an earlier model where basically it uses a negative pulse to trigger the horn. does yours have a relay?

I did not check the relay at the engine, but is there is anyother way where you triger the horn from inside the car. Thanks

there is a fuse for the horn inside on the back side take the hot side of the fuse and cut that wire then tap a 12 hot at all time wire and connect it to that that way you have a horn with the key off.

That seems to make sence, but why when I connect a relay as follows, 86 & 87 direct +12 V, 85 to the device wire, and 30 to the car wire that gets +12 V when the key is at the on position, it does not work. can I connect a constant +12 V to the hot wire at the steering column that becomes hot at the on position. thanks for your help

zmsaad, leave the relay wired as you have it now except connect terminal 30 directly to the horn at the horn instead of trying to catch it before the factory relay.

Thanks for the reply, when you say connect terminal 30 to the horn, does that mean go thru the firewall to engine compartment and connect terminal 30 to the positive side of the horn. thaks

You're welcome. Yes, go through the firewall and connect directly to the positive side of the horn from terminal 30 of the relay.
