I have an 02 Blazer. Last night while driving home the the Passlock system went out. The headlights dont come on automatically, the "security" light stays on, I have no dome lights, and power door locks wont work. Theres probably a couple of other things that I dont know about yet. We have checked out the fuses and nothing is wrong with them. I have also tried to retrieve diagnostic codes and nothing comes up. PLEASE HELP!!

I would check ALL fuses inside and under hood again.......

I rechecked the fuse panel on the driver side and the fuse panel under the hood. I was told there is a fuse/ curcuit panel on the passenger side. My boyfriend and I checked everywhere on the passenger side, but we could'nt find anything. Do you know of a fuse panel on this side?

Okay I had the truck diagnosed yesterday and they told me that it was the BCM. So they put it in. Today I got a call saying that it did'nt fix the problem. Tomarrow they are going to rediagnose the truck. Hopefully it will spit out the right problem this time. The guy who invented this system must have been a real winner.

ah yes car computer systems have a very good flaw. The car runs on 12 volt DC but the computer runs at 4v DC. Just don't let them gouge or push ya around. Take a mechanic or husband with you atleast since unfortunatly they do pray on women more then men.

Yeah I took my boyfriend with me but they still tried to bs me. That is untill we started talking to them about it and they relized we knew what I was talking about. Anyways the problem was in the aftermarket security system. They were'nt sure what it was, but they took it out and now its back to normal.

Who put in the system ? I find it hard to believe that an alarm system would take out the Passlock system seeing that the security system isn't even attached to the Passlock system.

When I bought the truck from a Chevy dealer, the aftermarket system was already in it. Little did I know it would have caused this kind of problem or I would have had them take it out when I purchased the vehicle. based on the mess they had under the dash, I honestly think that the person who owned it before me did it themselves or had someone who had no idea what they were doing put it in. I found it hard to believe also, but im not really going to complian about it, at least my truck is in running condition.

well they like to blame problems on the industry... they could have fixed something else and just told you it was the system that was in there. Cuz WE ALL KNOW THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN WRONG.... I hate dealers !

Unless the unit was a remote start as well.....Jeff nailed it. Aftermarket security is NOT tied to the passlock at all

I have found that MANY Car Dealers that don't understand the workings & Installation of Remote Starts & ByPass kits, tend to want the System Removed and return the vehicle back to stock.  Not only to charge the customer shop labor, but also to give the customer some sort of security that the Factory System is beast and that the Aftermarket Installer is the cause of the problem............

If you are gonna miss that Remote Start, have a Reputable Shop install one.
I'll just bet that the SALES Department at the Car Dealer that fixed your vehicle could recommend one and the Service Department doesn't know one

yeap dealerships try to bs people most of the time. I had a dealer bring me a 02 tacoma that had a lojack and lojack alarm, the turn signals & hazard lights stopped working so the certified master mechanic blamed the alarm. came to be the flasher was bad so we charged the dealership for the inspection.

I have seen chevys of that year have defective factory connections on the main ignition harness plug attached the the key cylinder. have your techs check those connections to, as they can cause all sorts of problems like that. Or, if the dealer techs wherever you are are anything like the ones we have in Alaska, Just check them yourself.

I have a 2001 GMC jimmy with a PRIME PS-X45 alarm/remote start.  I currently have the remote start hooked up only (installed by a professional)  the other day I hit the start button (paging remote) and the vehicle failed to start.  So I got in and tried my key (NO START!!)  I tried several times then just left the vehicle behind.  We have no GM dealer locally so I asked a local mechanic and he told me to try a different key.  I went down with the wife and kids and this time I started right up????  I installed a Cdn Tire brand remote in my 2000 Grand am and it did the same thing when I did not have the right resistance for the passlock system, and I know with the grand am all you have to do is cycle the key 10 times or so?  Is the system in the Jimmy the same (cycle key) until the computer (passlockII) recognizes it??

It worked fine before this happened (awesome range!) but I disabled the Prime start because I don't want to get stranded.

Is there a way to test the system (resistance change??)

Don
