I just got done installing a remote start on my 2000 corvette. Everything else work fine, but when i try to start the car it starts for about a second or less then shuts off. What could it be, i was told it's probably the key bypass. I thought if that didn't work the car won't be crank. Is there any way to test if the keypass is working propertly Thank You

you can always put the key in the the cylinder(do not turn it) and try the remote start; if it starts and stays running, then there's a problem with your bypass. If you still have the problem, you've got some more diagnosis to do.

i'm guessing a passlock 2 bypass?... maybe corvettes are pk3? it depends? I've never tried to install a starter on a corvette because nobody in my area drives them in the winter plus most are standards and most everyone has heard from a friends buddies brothers cousins uncle who worked at a shop a few years back that putting a starter in a standard is impossible... Which is 100% wrong... but people don't know until they ask the professionals

2000 vette is a PIA, I remember doing one and hitting the tach in the passenger tire well at the ECM. Everything else was in the passenger floor. Not hard, but that tach was a PIA.
Why would a rookie mess with a Vette? If u have a 00 Vette, shouldn't you (wouldn't you) want a pro to do it?

You will need to install a bypass module in order for the remote start to work. ------------- Jeff

This is my very fist install. I installed clifford Intellistat IV on my 2000 vette. When I hit the * on the remote, the car turns over and even starts lot of times but only stays on for about a second then shuts off. I have connected the RPM wire and made sure it is the RPM.

The car has VATS, I bypass it. Even tested to make sure it is not the problem. I seems like the RPM are not programming properly. And to answer few other questions, I would have gotten it done from a Professional, but noboy here wants to put remote start in a manual vette. I had done alarm before just not a remote start. This install consisted of G5 Solaris alarm, smart windows, Remote start. Everything else is working fine except for the remote start. Another thing I would like to point out is that only wires i hooked up are starter and ignition, other wires like heater, ignition 2, heater 2, AC I left along since my vette has that functionalty built in to keep everything on for additional 10 miuntes after the car is turned off.
