hello,

I just got an alarm installed on my car (240sx).  The alarm is a Prestige/audiovox aps-995s with remote start which I wanted installed on my car, but because my car has a manual transmission the installer said it(remote start) wasn't possible.

Is this true or is, the installer just messing with me?  A co-worker of mine told me sometime that installers say that so they won't be held liable if the car happens to be in gear when it is started.

If there is no way around it what alarm systems, that have a responder, will work with my car?

Thanks alot

compustar will work they have a manual tranny mode you have to do a series of steps but you wont find many if at all anyone to install it . the liability is way to high.i have had people offer me $500 on top of the price just to hook it up and i dont do them. here in california waiver's are worth the paper there written on . wrongful death lawsuits tend to be expensive as well as  crippling someone for life.

so it's true what me co-worker said.  that they probably could rig up the remote start but won't because they are afraid of a lawsuit?

If that is the case could i do it myself?  what all would i need if i wanted to do it myself?

securinu,

you mentioned a company called compustar.  Can you tell me alittle bit more about there products.  Are they durable and of good quality?  Have you heard anything bad about them?  Any type of opinion would be helpful.

Thanks
