300zx Alarm Install Input Question.

Ok. I've done some research on this, but want to be sure before I wire it up. My alarm takes a (-) Negative Door Pin Input and (-) Negative Hood Pin Input.

I've located the wires and put a test light on them. They show (+) when doors/hood is closed and nothing when they are open.

Now the other examples I've seen show the (-) input connected directly to that door/hood pin wire in question. But On the "Triggers" section of this site, it says if +12vdc is present when closed on same lead I need a blocking diode.

My questions are
"Do I need a diode or not?" and
"For just the Hood pin or for both Hood and Doors?"

P.S. One more... Where can I find an appropriate place to buy the diode from on the internet? What is the model, etc?

You shouldn't need a diode on the door trigger input. The alarm is usually designed with the fact that the door polarity switches when open or closed in mind. Unless you are specifially instructed to do so in your install manual I wouldn't bother. The hood pin is just a pin switch that connects the wire to chassis ground (negative) so you do not need a diode for that either.

Yes if you are hooking up more than one door trigger use diodes to isolate. I was assuming you have one door trigger wire for all doors. What year is the 300ZX? Some have keyless units that enable you to use a single wire for all doors.

For that matter...What brand and model is the alarm?

It's a 1990 300ZX. There is one single door input wire for both doors at the factory security module. There is also a single wire for the hood and a single wire for the hatch. The alarm has an input for each of these.

The alarm is the Lynx 2000/Airwolf 20099 from asianwolf. I have done an install on one of these before, but did it the long complicated way with a relay on each door and the dome.
