My friend bought the Prestige (Audiovox) APS-786T and we recently installed it in his 94 Toyota Camry.

We ran into a few problems along the way:

- No positive door trigger wire... Solution: After reading a bunch of posts here about that, we figured that it did not need to be connected. But we're not sure if thats right.

- We are not sure whether the door locks are grounded or if its a 12 volt system. So we haven't attached that to the control module yet... or wired those 3 wires.

- After getting everything but the door trigger and the power locks wired and conected, we tried to plug the bad boy in and all we get is a screetching siren and a sweet horn blast...that wont stop. We tried closing the doors, checking the hood switch, and it still screams when we give it power (or if power is attached first, when we plug in the main wiring harness).

This being the first install of this kind that we have done, its kinda stumped us. I know we have to hook that door lock deal up, but other than that, we are kinda looking for any help anyone can offer.

So, if you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks a lot guys.

Hey Byron here is the diagram for the camry.

1994 Toyota Camry Alarm Information

The door trigger according to the diagram is negative so you can connect it right to a negative trigger input on your alarm.

Wire colors are in there for your door locks. Here is the note 209 on Toyota child safety locks.

As for plugging in try this........... Before you power up the alarm put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the run position. Not the start or crank just the run position then power up your alarm.

Most of them have a feature that sets off the alarm when power has been disconnected and reconnected.

That's correct, you only use one of these inputs. You are using the correct one so don't connect the positive to anything.
