I'm looking at the Viper 791XV, the Clifford RSX3.5, and the Avital Avistart 4400.  Can someone please explain to me what the differences are?  They are all different prices, but can't figure out why.  thanks.

You will be amazed what you will find once you begin reading through the information here.

I hear you on that one!  there is a ton of infor here, but alot of it has to do with electrical, schematics, and diodes, etc. stuff i don't really understand.  I've been hard pressed to figure out all the part/model numbers and find info i can actually use.

THE cLIFFORD AND vIPER ARE THE EXACT SAME UNIT, THE Avital is the same as the Valet and Hornet... these are AM broadcast whereas the Viper/Clifford is FM.... i've had both in my own vehicle and much prefer the Clifford 3.5

you had both the viper and the clifford, or both the avital and the clifford?  what is the difference between AM and FM?  why did you like the clifford better?

Avital & Clifford (Valet actually, but it's the same unit)  i noticed far better range and building penetration with the FM Responder unit... but i miss the clock that the Valet unit had in the remote, since i dont wear a watch or carry a cell phone....

essentially if you want max range, go with the Responder models... if you want lots of tweaky features go with the Avital/Valet unit....
