Subject: Compustar 2-WAMA Thoughts Pls

A local electronic store has a good deal on the Compustar 2-WAMA (2 way remote) for $249 Canadian installed (1 regular remote, 1 paging remote - AM transmitter). Says it has 1500 ft range but other AMs say 800 ft range. They say it is a new model. I can find no information on it via a google search and it does not appear on the company website. Is this an old discontinued model, or is this a new model? From the Compustar.Org website "Evolution of 2-way" it looks like year 2001-2002 remote. Any thoughts and experiences with this product, or with Compustar AM remotes in general?

These units you installed, are they new for 2005 or older models?

You will get the same range as the 1WAMS systems. Some are 800ft and some are 1300ft. These are not new for 2005. It's been in production for a couple of years now.

Thanks. I bought the alarm and I am going to have A&B sound do the basic install, then I am going to wire in the doors and ignition kill from the old Executive alarm system wires, which I am going to junk, but with a new ignition kill relay. Question, the installation guide for the alarm (CM3300) shows an ignition sensing input for (CN2 wiring harness - green wire). What is this for, and do I need to connect it? If I need to connect it, which wire for a 1998 Dodge Caravan? On this forum I searched and found the wiring guide for a 1999 Dodge Caravan, anyone have the info for a 1998 Dodge Caravan?

A basic installation from A&B should cover Starter kill, door pins, shock sensor, LED, and Siren Installation. So you wont have to worry about doing that yourself. But honestly if you have to ask a basic question like what is ignition sensing for, perhaps you should leave it up to the pros to do. Because unfortunatly if you change the installation after it's installe by A&B you will most likely loose your installation and alarm waranty.

IGN sense is to let the system know that you are in the vehicle and that it is on. This way you can't arm the system while the ignition is in the ON position. The 98 and 99 Caravan is the same. ------------- Jeff
