Bottom line, I'm looking to power a device at 35MPH or faster...

Wondering if there was a module or something that can read a VSS pulse range to effectively turn on a relay at 35mph, but shut it off if it goes below 35MPH...

I know there are several head units that you tap into the VSS so the tech is there, just hoping this "vss reading module" isn't expensive or extremely labor intensive...

Thanks!

What vehicle are you working on?

you could find a volt sensitive device that would monitor the voltage that comes from the VSS sensor and at 35mph. then you can set it to turn on an output to a relay thought would turn on whatever you want to turn on, if you really want to get technical you could build circuit that could do this!

most VSS wires are in AC voltage.......u would prolly ahve to build your own circuit to see a high enough voltage to trigger a transitor and not a realy.....

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

Just a thought.. You might search the internet for parts for one of those moving wing kits. I know they also have a unit that will lower your tailgate on your pickup at a certain speed.

Here's a link the website https://droptail.com/spoiler.htm. You might be able to buy the electronics and activate a relay as opposed to the actuator. Says it activates at 40mph.

next thought would be if its a standard tranny you could install micro switches on the shift linkage. Like in 2nd gear and 3rd gear. Shifting into 3rd would turn the relay on, shift down into 2nd would turn it off. (momentarty relay drawing are on this site).

I built a module a few months back that was designed to be an RPM switch.  It works based on a square wave input, and is programmable to basically any setpoint.  It CAN be done, and it CAN be done rather cheaply.
