Just wondering if any alarms out there are still susceptible to this?

Only the ones that do not fuse the wire from the alarm to the light.  Most nowadays use the fuse for the alarm to protect itself.  others actually have a fuse right there on the wire.

I installed an Exaclibur on my 99 blazer and I thought it and the dome light were fused but I must have missed it. The dome lights stopped working. Went in and found the harness melted at the light pin! Guess the dome pulled to much juice. ANYWAY'S! From that point on I recomend relaying lights and sirens. Lights cause you never know when a trailer might be attached and pull to much juice and the siren cause half the time I install no less then 3. Also I put the relay in a more accessable place then the brain and can change fuses faster.

i can understand the dome light wire melting if the vehicle had a positive door trigger wire.  other vehicles that have a negative door trigger then this doesn't apply.  i was curious to know if there were any alarms still susceptible to the grounding the parking light wire.  would it make sense to put a 3 amp diode on the positive parking wire off the alarm brain before tapping it to the vehicle's positive parking light wire?

good suggestion regarding the relays.

just use a fuse  it is cheaper and a true circuit break if someone does short the lights.
