How do I bypass the clutch switch on a 99 beetle to get the car to start? If I try a remote start and hold in the clutch the car will start. The clutch has two 2 wire
plugs feeding it. The plug on the top shows no voltage on either wire with the clutch pushed in or if out. The bottom plug shows one wire hot with clutch in or out and the other
wire shows hot with clutch out, but no voltage when clutch is pushed in.

I thought I did, but was wrong. I tried both different
hook ups from gus1, but that didnt work.

I talked to tech support. I unplugged one of the plugs going to the clutch switch and the car would start with
key. I was told to hook one wire(RED / gray) of that plug to 87, the other wire to 30 and 85 to ignition wire and
86 to wire coming off of my alarm. Does this sound like
it would work?

Ok then you may have a negative clutch switch. Use Gus1's 2nd pin out from the August post only make pin 30 go to ground instead of +12volts.

Well if that's what tech support says then according to you, you've already tried that. because that is the first suggestion from Gus

Or... you can diode isolate the negative start output, and send it to the non brown wire on the clutch switch..... if it's a negative clutch system, one of the wires out of the two for the starter clutch switch (not the cruise one) will be brown....

I believe I figured out what I did WRONG!! I misunderstood that the #85 was supposed to hook to ignition wire and I hooked it straight to a constant 12 volt supply!! My Bad, My Bad!!!!
