Hello all,

I installed a CrimeStopper remote door lock model CS-865RKE series 2

Everything works nicely except for the poor range of the transmitter.

The antenna is a straight wire attached to the control module. The module had to be hidden behind the glove box, so the antenna is also behind the glove box but away from metal.

Is there a way to extend the range of the transmitters ? Would extending the lenght of the antenna help? Is there a booster available for such an application.

Thanks in advance

Paul

You can try running the antenna up the pillar.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the antenna itself is only about 18" long and doesn't reach beyond the dash. It remains completely under the dash, behind the glove box.

Can I extend the lenght of that antenna and if yes, would a standard wire do the job?

It should not be lengthened or shortened. The antenna is tuned to the frequency it operates on by its length.

Hey Ken,

that makes sense. Any other way to boost the signal?

I don't know of any way to boost the signal other than violating FCC law and boosting the wattage. Wouldn't even know how to do that.
