I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.  It has the memory seats, mirriors etc and I would like to install a remote start.  However I do not want to give up the factory buttons because of the memory seating and I don't really want to lug around two key fobs for one car.  So I have an idea that I am wondering what everyone thinks:  The unit I have is a Prestige Platnium APS 685.  It has an auxilarry  input that will start the vehicle when pulsed ground.  Could I: 1 use the panic button channel from the factory remote hooked via a relay to pulse the remote start to ground and thus start the vehicle? and disable the panic... just using that channel to start the Jeep?

2. Or Does anyone know if there is a smaller single button remote that will work with the prestige remote start?

any thoughts?

thanks

-Jeff

You can add a channel expander to your factory keyless entry to do just what you described.

There are a lot of starters on the market that utilize the lock -lock feature to start your car with factory remotes.Try Omegas rs-4lx or code alarms f-40.
