A client brought an asianwolf 5005 alarm w/ remote start in today for an install. When I looked at the alarm, I shook my head but money is money so I began the install.

I'm not an expert in putting in alarms but I've done a fair number of DEI remote start alarms. This unit didn't include the starter kill option.

The problem that I'm having now is that when I remote start the car, sometimes it will run fine and other times it will die out after a few seconds. When it dies out, the alarm craps out as well and becomes unresponsive to commands from the remotes. I have to disconnect the battery in order for the alarm to begin functioning again. This only happens when the remote start function is used, otherwise the alarm works just fine.

I was not impressed with this unit and don't think I botched the install but I still don't know it all so it's very well possible that I did. I also installed the window module but it will not roll the windows up when I set the alarm. It is on channel two and set to a timed trigger. I can get the windows to go up by manually doing it on the remote but not when the alarm gets armed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greg

I guess I should add that all the connections are soldered and taped. Each connection should be solid w/ no short.

Where did you catch Constant 12 Volt + at?
Are you using a By-Pass for RS?

Took both constant 12v off the ignition according to both the diagrams on this site and bulldogsecurity. I did test and they were constant 12v even during start. Wired to the white and the WHITE/ red wires.

I have a feeling that maybe it's something to do w/ the tach wire as the car ran fine before I hooked that wire up and now there was even a CEL lit up on the dash after connecting the tach to the coil. Black wire in the gray harness on the coil closest to the bumper on the I4.

There is no bypass for the remote start. I wasn't aware that one would be necessary as there is no transponder key and no factory alarm that I can tell of. What is weird is that the problem seems to be intermittent.

Sigh I really need to start charging more for installing these systems...
