i have a 1997 ford explorer. i have a viper 791xv in there now with remote start...im 95% likely not going to do this and just pay someone, but i had a thought today that i wanna research how involved it is(i know its alot of work) and basically i know nothing really about installing alarms...is there wiring diagrams out for my truck that tells where/what color each wire is that i have to connect things to? do i solder wires or crimp them? any other info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If you already have an alarm installed that is working correctly then changing out the alarm shouldn't be too hard, assuming you know what each wire on the current alarm is hooked up to.  Lucky for you, DEI typically imprints their entire wiring guide ON the brain.  This means, that if you find your current brain you should have ALL the wires you need right there.  Might be able to save yourself some cash!

That would be my suggestion also. Especially if you want to sell the old alarm.
