Hi, this is my first time here. I was looking for some information on installing the Matrix 3.5 on my 2001 Ford Mustang and this forum came up. I've had some experience with doing some electrical work on my previous car, but I think this is going to be a challenge. I have a few questions on the "remote start" of the alarm.
I know that my car has a transponder. I know I have to get a device to bypass the transponder inorder for the remote start to work. I was searching the web and bulldog securites has a thing called the T-Harness to speed up the installation(I don't have to cut any wires) and their own bypass module.
https://www.directwholesale.net/secure/
I was wondering if I could actually use the T-Harness and Bull Dog security's bypass module instead of the(I think) DEI 555P.
Another question is, if I have to use the 555p, do I still need to program the key that is in the 555p module(I think I read that a key was already put in the module). The reason is because I only have 1 key.
Another question: what is the difference between the DEI 555P and 555F?
I still have a few more questions but I think I'll post them later. Thanks for your help. I'm glad there's a forum like this.

since the 3.5 is a DEI product i would use the 555PW since it is a DEI product too....yes u will need 2 keys to program the module....and the difference in the 555f and the 555p .....the 555f is for cars with the old ant. ring type igntions.....what other questions do u have?

redpeppers thanks for you reply.
Okay, so I guess I'll use the DEI 555P or the 555PW (I'm guessing they're the same)
I guess I'll have to go to the dealership and purchase another key for $100 (damnit)
Other question I have is whether the Matrix 3.5 has starter kill, do I have to by another device for that to work?
Does the Matrix 3.5 itself have an option for automatic trunk release? If not, do I have to buy another device?
thanks for you help.

the matrix 3.5 has start kill.....there is 2 wires in the starter relay packet (that is the black box that is seperate the brain of the unit) the green and purple (during install you will have 2 cut the starter wire and put the green wire to the key cylinder side and the purple to the starter side).....when the alarm is armed (locked) the relay in the starter relay packet disconnects those wires.....also the question about the trunk release.....there is a RED / white wire on the 3.5.....run that to the negitive trigger trunk release wire the the The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) which is located above the driver kick panel. the color of the wire is pink/lt. green (there is a 26 pin plug, the wire is in pin 25), also the 555pw is the same

Ohh yea forgot to ask, does the 3.5 alarm go off if someone opens the hood or the trunk? I heard that unless I get a pin switch I won't. If it doesn't what should I do?

well u need to wire a hood pin under the hood for safety reason....that is so it does accident starts when someone is working on it.....it will also tell u on the remote keyfab if someone breaks into the hood.....the 3.5 comes with a hood pin and u need to connect the grey wire from the brain to it....the tach wire is PURPLE / white and it needs to go under the hood to the coil pack (NOT red or WHITE/ lt. blue) so run the grey hood pin wire and the tach wire together. and for the trunk .....wire the blue wire in the main brain harness to the trunk trigger which is BROWN / white (26 pin plug, pin 25 at GEM) let me know if u have any more ? ------------- Where theres is a wire there's a way.

of course....it will go off if some gets in the trunk and another kool thing aBOUT the 3.5 is....if u leave the door or the trunk, or the hood open .....when u lock (or arm) the alarm it will tell u on the key fab that u left one of them open..... CLIFFORD RULES!!! ANymore question? glad 2 help....

Hey redpeppers thanks for all your help. I'll definitely recommend this site to others. I have the cliffords 3.5 ready at my house. I ordered the 555P and the 530T(window automation).
I heard that when I setup the wiring for the automatic door lock and unlock I have to use some diodes. I think I'm going to need some help on that. I download the wiring diagrams from bulldogsecurities's webpage.
https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/diagrams.htm
(click on Ford Mustang 1999-2004)
But I really don't understand it. I also am wondering if the bulldogsecurity diagram can be applied to the Matrix 3.5.
What and where is the BCM (body control module)? Do I need to use a diode for the trunk trigger(release) when I install the Matrix 3.5?
Am going to need anything else(like diodes) to install the window automation?
How many diodes am I going to need and what kind? Where can I get the diodes?
I'm just trying to get everythink ready, so when all the stuff I bought(like the window automation[530T] and the 555P) comes in I can just put it in.
As you can see I'm a novice but with some help I think I can do it. Thank redpeppers

I have one more question. When I install the bypass module, will the transponder still work? If I were to start the car without a chip in it with the 555P installed, would the car start or not?
