Subject: alpine sec-100s + power locks

i recently discovered that i have aftermarket power door locks in my car. they arent wired up though.

i have an alpine sec-100s alarm, and the instructions are confusing me. there are 3 wires in the door lock harness:

A Drivers Unlock- (lock+)
B Lock-/Unlock+
C All Doors Unlock-/+ (selectable thru setup)

my guesses tell me to wire the drivers side actuator via relays to A and B, and the passenger side actuator via relays to B and C(setup as Unlock-?)

is that correct or am i missing something?

thx.

You're right thoug hyou could wire both doors using b+c save you a relay and you wouldn't have to hit the unlock button twice to do both doors

youre diagram looks ok.  Try running a fused jumper to each actuator around 10 amp fuse should be good.  If the fuse blows then there might be something wrond with the actuator itself

i know for a fact the driver side actuator works, i played with it on a spare battery i have. it went in and out like it should.

i dont even have the passenger side one hooked up yet, i was just testing the driver side when i popped the fuse.

Is it blow the fuse as soon as you put the fuse in or when you try using the transmitter

Ok so then there's a direct short somewhere try checking your relays then shouldn't have continuity between 30 and 87.  There should be continuity between 30 and 87a.  Check the resistance of the coil  should be around 85 ohms.

ok ill check all that tomorrow. i did poke around a bit and tested some things. i checked continuity betweem 87A and 30, and got none...

coil resistance was between 75 and 85 on all 4, but ill check it again in the morning.

the relays are brand new, i hope i didnt fry them.

thanks for the help so far.

You should have continuity between those.  Worse comes to worse I've got about 50 bosch relays  think I could spare a couple to ya.  It's later I'm tired.

ok i think i may have solved it. looking at this post, i may have bought crappy relays.

i played around with a spare one i had, and it exhibited the same issues, if i grounded 30, either directly, or via 87a, it shorted out the relay, made it buzz.

im gonna yank the whole deal out tomorrow and muck around with one of the relays, see if i cant do anything with it, if not, ill have to buy some good relays.

haha, theyre junk. 87 and 87a are linked. theyre the same circuit. they BOTH connect to 30 when the coil is energized.

bah. off to buy some real relays.

got some good relays (made by hella) and alls good now. worked perfectly the first time.

lesson learned: make sure your electronic bits are what they say they are!
