The topic says "remote start for manual shift " Is your 91 300zx, a manual trans? If so, is the asian wolf 8000 designed for a manual trans....? If its not...DON'T DO IT -------------

very few cars with manual transmission, (but some do) have a nuetral saftey wire at the transmission....if ur car has one....then installing a remote start would be safely done..... ------------- Where theres is a wire there's a way.

the asian wolf have a numorous amont of capabilities, and yes my car is a manual trans, but i was thinking of installing my own neutral saftey wire, by adding a small switch of some sort that gives a ground only when the car is in neutral

It will be wasted effort doing so. Spend the extra dollar and get yourself a unit that is actually for a manual transmission vehicle. I can not emphasis enough about the safety. Do a search on this topic and you will understand why. ------------- Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

I have had some success installing remote starters not normally intended for use on a manual transmission into manual transmission vehicles. When possible, I use magnetic switches around the shifter to ground out the hoodpin wire when the car is not in neutral. typically, the magnets go on the shifter itself, and the swithces go around the shifter. this can be time consuming, and more trouble than it is worth, but if you mount the hardware properly, and make sure everything is adjusted just right, it is safe and reliable. Be smart about it tho, and don't let it leave the shop until you have verified that it will not start in any gear. If done right, it works everytime, and all the hardware is concealed under the shift boot. Test it periodically and make sure that it picks up all the gears. Safety first and all that.....
------------- Northstart.....or start it your damn self.

Why bother jerry-riggin' a neutral setup when you can just use the one that's already in your car! The neutral position switch is mounted in the transmission and does exactly that!! - grounds out only when the car is in neutral.

A lot of Nissans have factory PNP switches (Park/Neutral Position). Nissan uses them for no load rev limiting. See if you can find a wiring diagram for the ECU and look to see if it has a PNP switch.
I had magnetic switches on my shifter in my 94 Cavalier a few years back. Worked great except for that one time when it started in reverse and hit another truck :)

Point made !! Don't do this unless you have a manual safe remote starter. ------------- Jeff

No need to wonder if it has the neutral position switch. Like I already stated above, it DOES have it. In fact, ALL manually tranny Nissans have it. On the 1991 Z32, it's on ECU pin 44. KPierson wrote:

That's why you use the switch built into the tranny by the manufacturer. The ground output when in neutral works regardless of which gear your in.... and won't fail like a jerry-rigged setup.
