I've installed a few strobe sets. I'm very new to this but I'll tell you the basics of what I know.

--You need a 1" hole saw to install the bulbs. $10 at Lowe's.

--A little silicone is also helpful to put around the bulbs, even though they have their own gasket.

--The plugs for the bulbs are not waterproof, even though they have to stay on the "outside" of the car. Some people put silicone over the plugs, which makes bulb replacement difficult. Tape wouldn't be as good as silicone, but better than nothing.

--www.lshlights.com is a good company that has wholesale prices.

--60 watts per channel is the standard for the power supply. I know a guy who sells the 50-watt kits and no one notices or complains, so it is probably good enough.

--The strobe kit asks for ground, constant power, and switched power. Connect the ground and constant as usual. Connect the switched wire to the siren wire for your car alarm----the strobes will only operate when the siren is on.

--Most of the strobe power supplies have a wire for changing the pattern. Every time that wire receives positive power, the strobe pattern changes. You can wire in a valet switch from an old alarm to change patterns------or if you don't want to change the patterns, use a jumper wire to set it the way you like, and then leave it.

--If this is your personal car, I would STRONGLY recomment installing an indicator light on the dash to show you that the strobes are on, in case something goes wrong.

I had a customer who had his strobes come on whenever his parking lights were on, because of an install error of mine. He got pulled over and warned, but luckily no ticket. If I had installed an indicator light, he would have known about the problem, and probably would have stopped driving until I fixed it.
