I have a code alarm CA430 it uses the factory remote to start the truck i bought a 556u and looking at it i only have to use 3 wires the (red) +12 (black) -ground and the blue wire that hooks to the -output of the R/S.the R/S has a wire to disable the factory alarm but The truck did not come with a factory alarm just keyless entry so i don't think i need to disable anything any other help or tips would be great .

TIA John

I have a Tacoma and the installation was easy. I have the double cab 4x4 6 speed manual. If you only have the keyless entry system then all you have to do is use the universal bypass module and leave the grey valet key in the module. Make sure that you have the key in the sweet spot of the module for proper remote start everytime.

What did you do about the 2nd starter wire did you just use a jumper or did you use a diode

Can you find a link or pic of the CA430? I install Audiovox remote starters all day, and I think your unit is simply a rebadged Audiovox---if so, I can help there.

The Tacoma is not a particularly hard car to do a remote start on. It comes apart fairly easily and the wires you need are not hard to find. But if you're new at it, dealing with the immobilizer key can sometimes be frustrating.

By the way, that key is not included on the very, very base trucks--- are you sure yours has it?

I'll admit that I just jumper the two starter wires together. It goes contrary to the way the car was designed, but I luckily haven't had a problem yet.

One catch to this whole deal, though-------Toyota remotes don't work with the car running. It sucks if you remote start the car, and then have to use your key to open the door manually. If it were me, I'd get rid of the unit you have, and buy a remote start with its own remotes, with its own keyless entry, and forget the factory remotes.

Thanks for the info

Well got it done the unit is made by Code Alarm not to bad of an install and ya the remotes don't work when the car is running i need to find the wire that charges the keyless entry when the car is running but it works hit the lock button twice and that turns the R/S on runs for 12 or 25 min turns the parking lights on when in R/S not bad for 80 bucks has lifetime warrenty I also jumpered the 2 start wires all and all i am happy with it.

Most of the newer cars build the keyless entry into the BCM. I managed to rewire the keyless on an older Highlander, and a 2003 Honda Odyssey......but on the newer Accords and Odysseys it seems to be impossible.

You can poke around at the BCM/fusebox, test all the wires.....if you find one that tests as ignition cut it......if that gets the keyless to work with the RS on, configure a relay to interrupt that wire ONLY with the RS on.....and even then it may not work right.

I tried doing the same thing on a new Toyota Sienna.....the keyless would work, but the heater/AC wouldn't.......obviously that makes the remote start pointless.

Honestly, you'd probably have saved a lot of time just to buy a unit with keyless.
