does anyone know how to wire a relay to make my aftermarket remote start work with the doorlocks?

i have a 2004 mazda RX8 and a compustar 2w900fm remote start. im pretty sure it needs a relay but not sure what type or how to wire it up

I hope you mean your "Door Locks work By your Remote Start Unit"??

* LT GREEN Wire Must See Ground Through 1000 Ohm Resistor For LOCK and Chassis Ground For UNLOCK

yes that is what i meant:) the door locking feature of the alarm ,,,

so should i just wire it up without a relay and jsut put a 1000ohm resistor on the 'lock' output of the alarm system.., and connect both lock and unlock wires from alarm into the LtGreen wire?

the outputs from the alarm are (-) 250ma

radioshack has 1N4001 but not 1N4001/L diodes, are they interchangeable?

i got it ,


UNLOCK relay
87 - ground
87a - empty
86- 12v
85 - unlock signal from alarm
30- to light green

LOCK
signal from alarm -->diode --> 1K ohm resistor --> light green wire (no relay)
