Here's my scenario:
I'm adding a tow-trailer to my van and want to purchase a new 2-way alarm/starter/keyless entry system that will allow my to introduce a 2nd shock sensor to cover the trailer in addition to the van.
Here's my question:
Is there an out-of-the-box system that comes with mutiple shock sensors that would fit the bill for what I need or will I need to build a custom multi-sensor "blocking diode" circuit myself?

Dei makes a trigger for your trailer.Go with a dei model like viper or clifford..

One question about the DEI 502t sensor:
They say it will "trigger whenever it's disconnected". Is it also a shock sensor? I'm wondering because I'm just as concerned about making sure the alarm triggers if the trailer (door) is broken into.

You could include a door trigger and multiple sensors in the trailer using a quick disconnect at the hitch. You can purchase a good quality quick disconnet at your local Radio controlled hoby shop. They are called deans plugs and they make a few different types. Therre are other manufactures you can look at also. You will need to run an additional 3 wires to the trailer. one for power one for pre-warn and one for instant trigger. The two types of sensors I would recommend would be a tilt sensor and a pin switch on the door. The tilt sensor will monitor the level of the trailer to prevent anyone from lifting the hitch from the ball. The pin switch will detect if a door is opend. You will want to hide the plug for the alarm sensors since if someone is trying to take the trailer most likely they will unplug everything at the hitch. Any install shop could add these sensors for you to any alarm system. I would reccomend a unit from Clifford since they make all of the sensors mentioned and they are very good alarms.
