Hey guys, just bought a Viper 771XV remote start for my 2002 nissan maxima, just wondering if there are any tips or anything that would help me out on this install..I already have all of the wire color codes, and rough descriptions of where the wires are located, but wondering about the whole chip thing in the keys that disarms the nissan vehicle engine immobilizer?? Thanks!

Nick

You'll need a bypass for the Ign.  As far as factory security.....arms with lock, disarms with unlock (dbl pulse)

Have fun getting wires into the doorposted_image

You don't have to get the door locks in the drivers door you can add pins to the harness of the ecu to pick up the locks.

Yes, as cntrylvr79 says, there's a trick----no need to run wires. Go to the carsound.com forums, do a search for "nissan bcm" and you will see pictures of my work.

Ok, I saw your work chris, nicely done...But in my 2002 maxima, I would still like to have the roll down windows thing when I hold down unlock. Even if I route the wires through the door will this still work?? Thanks!

Also couldn't I just tap into the unlock/lock wires where they come into the BCM? Instead of having to go into the door? I just would like to install the viper 771xv so when i hit unlock it disarms and unlocks, then when I hold down, rolls down the windows. thanks again guys!

If you are going to add Window Module.......You'll be in the Door any way

Here's how (and why) the locks are available only in the door. This applies not only to Nissans, but many other modern cars.

-The key cylinder on the outside of the door has three wires going to it. One is a ground feed. The other two wires put out a ground when the key is turned in one direction or the other.

-Those two key cylinder wires go to the power window switch. The power window switch also is the driver's door module-----it is basically not only the power window/lock switch, but it is a computer of sorts.

The window/lock switch take the signals from the key cylinder wires, and also the signals from the lock/unlock rocker switch on the door, and converts them into data.

This data all travels down one wire, into the car, and to the BCM.

So basically, the window switch, via data, commands the BCM to operate the doors.

Therefore, you will NOT find the regular doorlock wires anywhere inside the car.

While the auto manufacturers offer no explanation as to why they do things this way, we can reasonably assume it is either to save weight,, money, or both.

---------------------------------------------------

On the Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX4, you can lock or unlock the doors by turning the key in the SUV's tailgate. These wires run straight from the tailage to the BCM; they are NOT on the databus.

When we are working on Nissan cars, there is no tailgate of course, but I believe they are using the same (or similar) BCM.

When we are adding wires to the empty pins of the BCM, I believe these pins were intended to be for the tailgate key cylinder, and that is probaly why they do not control the windows.

so, Chris, if I do it in the door, as you state above, then when I hold down the unlock button on the viper remote start, it will still roll down the windows??  If yes, then perfect.  If not, how can I make that possible.  Thanks again for all your help everyone.
