I bought my S-10 used with a CodeAlarm alarm in it, the only problem I have with it is the way the door trigger is hooked up. The place that installed it connected it directly to the wire going into the floor lamp, so that part of it works. The only problem that I have with it is that my truck has illuminated entry, meaning that if the doors are locked and I pull on the door handle, the dome lights illuminate. And late at night when I forget that I armed my alarm and I pull on the door handle only to find that it is locked, I get the instant blaring of the horn waking the neighborhood. So what I'm wondering is is there a better way to connect into my domelight circuit, if I connect it to the actual door jamb switch would it make it so that it would only go off if the door is opened, which is more of what I'm after? And I'm assuming that I would have to diode isolate each switch? Which wires would I want to tap into?

Well i think the installer did a good thing there.(my opinion)A thief is going to see if the door is unlo.cked before he smashes your window at around $200 to replace, installed.I also understand the handle thing i do it myself.Go to bulldog site get wire color, test it .Door triggers.Sorry if not much help.

DOOR TRIGGER|*2 |- |BCM *1
*1 The BCM is located to the right of the accelerator pedal below the radio. The plugs on the BCM face towards the drivers side. *2 Use tan for the drivers door located in pin B4 of the purple plug, orange for the passenger door located in pin B2 of the purple plug, must diode isolate these wires.
do you know what modle of code system do you have, so can tell ya what color on alarm that you need to use.

It is a CodeAlarm F10, and from doing some history research on the truck I know it was installed when it was brand new back in 99 by a local auto security outfit. And I have to agree it is a good idea hooking it up that way, but it's also a pain when I forget that I armed it and pull on the door handle.
