This one is going out to installer of music and security . when running additional wiring for door lock actuators and door speakers through the door how do you get the wire to pass through the original rubber grommet ? or do you make a hole and pass to on the outside and just tape it up ? what would be the neatest installation? ------------- "I'm So Loud It Hertz"

I usually end up popping it out and compressing it then attempting to push the wire though. It that doesnt work I tape it to the end of a long screwdriver and push it through. Lately I use my fishing tape in the same manny just like you'd run wire down a house wall

what kind of vehicle do you have ? if there it just a hollow boot in the door jamb.. go buy some 2 ft. zipties, tape your wires and pull them through....this is very efficient...i don't recommend the use of a screwdriver as you take the risk of damaging wires in the door......

I have a 90' sentra. the boot is full of wires and there is hardly any space to pull 2 wires through (for audio). i have already pulled one through about 3 years ago with a fish wire and it took me abou 2.5 hrs to just pull 1 wire for a door actuator. it's a pain to work under the dash and inside the door !!! ------------- "I'm So Loud It Hertz"

I'm not sure what your door boot looks like, but mine has a molex plug....a male and female part (one on the inside and one on the outside of the door). The molex plug has a bunch of holes in it for the existing wires. I had to run wires through the boot for actuators, and a window module. Needless to say, I needed a lot of room in the molex plug. I was able to separate the plug, and drill a hole in the side that's inside the door, then fish the wires through that. In terms of getting the wires through the boot, I taped them very tight to a rubber bike cable type thing that I could push up through the boot, then I was able to grab it under the dash and pull the rest through. I've also used thicker wire, although that's not as stiff. (like 10awg).

mine is sort of like a bicycle tube with enlarged grommet at each end . it doesn't seem to have a ny sort of connector to disconnect the wiring - makes me wonder how will you remove a door if the wiring can't disconnect . definitly no more wire will go through and if i force it i'm afraid i may damage the existing one. ------------- "I'm So Loud It Hertz"

Try using a 14" zip-tie. Tape the wires to it and gently feed them into the door. ------------- C Renner's Auto Electronix

You could try cutting your existing lock actuater wire, taping (3) new wires to it also twist the copper to give it more strength. then pull the old wire through. This will get your 2 new wires through plus use the 3rd to replace the lock actuator wire you cut to use as a fishing line. I've done that before and it worked pretty well. ------------- Steve G

I was going to say the same thing as iskidoo, then i read his. Why not drag a few extra wires through while your at it if they fit? In case you want to add soemthing later. I alsways run a couple extra wires, just long enought to use to pull more wires through if I ever need them.

If its that tight then run a new harness and two new grommets. Get some Door Jam Wire Boots the diameter you need and the correct size grommets to go with it. An good reputible audio stor can order them for you. For example: Micro part numbers: ele-4301-70-011 $3.23ea, Loomdl $0.33ea, ele505010099 $3.23ea. Why waist the time with your factorys when you can be done fast and have room for improvement latter, lots af space in a new loom.
