Hi anybody!  I wondered if anyone on this board has a good meathod for triggering the rear defrost on a Sequoia?

I assume I will just need to find the wire that activates the factory relay and pulse it. Or is it more involved than that?

Thanks for the post and to all who reply!

Normally, a diode to the ground out when running is all that that will be use in combination with the Accessroy wire to activate the defrost.

you'll have to determine the polarity of the circuit, as well as whether it's a pulsed or latched circuit... many RS units today have a dedicated defroster output that is programmable....

Thanks for everyone!  I just looked at the Toyota wiring diagram and I will use the latched output from my remote start. And I will use a diode to isolate.

However, I wish I could activate the front defrost as well. This vehicle has auto climate with one touch front defrost. Unfortunately,  it is all multiplex communications and no switch that I can directly connect to.

Is there not a fan for the front windshield which will do that?

Yes, there is of course the blower for the front. I just wish there was a way to activate the front defrost (e.g. heat on high, fan on high, DEF vents) by remote.

As a compromise, for the front defrost, you might do this:

First, set the climate controls to Auto, and set the temperature the way you want it.

Next, hit the button that changes where the air comes out----set it so that it comes out the heater and defroster vents at the same time.

As long as you don't touch anything else, the system will still regulate the fan speed and air temperature automatically, so you'll always be comfortable...... but when you remote start, some air will reach the windshield and warm it.

Well, I am already used to presetting the climate controls but I think I'm going to go for it and see what mods I can make to HVAC contol panel circuit board aka A/C amplifier.

BTW: Thanks Chris Luongo for your previous posts on the Sequoia. Very helpful!!
