I need help with the 556 box. I can't seem to get it to work with wrapping with the loop. In the instructions it says to cut the wire in the ring. But when I take mine apart the only thing in there is a printed circuit board. Can anyone suggest any other way to make it work or where I hook up the wires to hard wire it.

Follow the instructions carefully when trying to connect it to the factory transponder ring....I would suggest NOT, but you can if nothing else will work! It could be defective as well......seen that a few times -------------

Thats a simple one... The G35 electrical system is cursed. Good luck! ------------- Kevin Pierson

Should the vss wire read 12 volts. I have did a search and everyone is saying the white wire with a green stripe but that wire reads 12 volts with the meter is that right?

The G35 electrical system is not cursed; those cars are just as easy as any other Nissan.
How do you have the 556U wired up? Red to constant, black to ground, blue to a ground-while-running output from your remote starter----the other wires are not used.
You shouldn't need to cut or open anything on the factory transponder ring---should be just pulling the little trim ring off the key cylinder, carefully (it's a little tight) put the 556U's ring in there, and put the trim ring back on.
Also, have you verfied that the rest of your install is good, and that the transponder key is the reason you're not getting it to work? Here's how:
Unplug the 556U. Place a good key in the ignition and try to remote start. If the remote starter works now, your problem is with the bypass-----if it doesn't work, the problem lies elsewhere.
TIP: Look at the red security light on top of the dash, at the very base of the windshield. If you start the car with a good key, the light stays out. If the car does not "see" the transponder key, the light will be on steady.

No, it really is. With the large amount of dependance on CAN bus signals, serial comm lines, and multiplexers the entire electrical system is very hard to manipulate. The remote start side of the car is straightforward, but take for example the door locks. You push the lock button in the door and it sends a serial signal to the BCM which in turn fires the door locks. Its rediculous that you have to run wires in to the doors (which is a bad idea on the G) to lock (arm) and unlock (disarm) the car. The G35 has a problem with retaining water inside its door shell. Once you break the waterproof seal between the door and the cabin you are only asking for trouble, as the BCM sits RIGHT under where the door harness is. The BCM is not sealed. Its little stupid things like that that make me call the electrical system 'cursed.' Oh, and if you want a fun project try to get the fog lights to turn on independently of the low beams using the OEM switch. The OEM switch is multiplexed (5ins, 5outs) to the BCM through a switching matrix, the BCM then sends a CAN bus signal to the relay box under the hood, which then turns the fog lights on IF the headlights are on. Fun stuff.... jb52_99 The VSS wire in the G should be a pulsing square wave, it should NOT read 12volts. What year G are you working with, is it a coupe or a sedan, and does it have stock Navi? ------------- Kevin Pierson

It is a 2004 sedan no factory nav.

I don't have the service manual for the '04, but the '03 sedan manual states the VSS is WHITE/ green and runs between the dash cluster and the AC controller (the display in the top, center dash). You should be able to pull the trim straight out from the AC controller and then pull the whole unit out. The car actually picks up wheel speed from the ABS computer that is located right under the drivers side dash, but it transmits the wheel speed over the CAN bus to the dash cluster. The cluster then outputs the VSS signal to the Navi system and the AC controller through a pulsing square wave that pulses from 0vdc to 4.5vdc. If the car is a 5AT there is also a 2nd VSS wire that is pulled directly from the AT on a yellow/black wire. It runs between the tranny and the transmission controller, which can be found in the passengers side kick panel. ------------- Kevin Pierson

Just out of curiosity, what are you looking for the VSS wire for? ------------- Kevin Pierson

Is this your G35? Are you doing the full double din conversion? ------------- Kevin Pierson

Yes it is my g35. And yes I did the full double din conversion. Thanks for all your help. The wire behind the ac unit worked.

Cool, well if you have any questions about the car (especially electrical) let me know. I've been inside and out of it and have a fairly good understanding of how it all works together. Good luck with the rest of your install! ------------- Kevin Pierson

The only problem I have is that if I just arm the car the auto headlights will shut off. But if it is remote started then I turn it off from the remote the auto light will not shut off. Unless I go outside and put the key in a turn the car on. Is there something that could be causing that?

Yeah, the RAP system is screwy and doesn't ever completely time out. Use your factory rearm to pulse your drivers door pin (Diode isolate it from your real rearm wire). You will know it works because when your remote start shuts down and pulses the door pin you'll be able to see your drivers side window drop the 3mm or whatever it is because the BCM things the door is being opened. Your lights will then shut off a few seconds later. We were have a very similar issue while working on the remote sunroof opener/closer.
