Hi all,

I am new to the forum and looking for so input on my situation. About a week ago I had a remote start installed on my 05 chevy silverado 2500HD, Its a Scosche CM4200 remote start. My problem is when I remote start the headlights come on,  which they should when its dark out, but after about ten seconds they flash twice the doors lock and then shut off. The lights do come back on when I install the key and press the brake, but since I have HID conversion installed I dont want  them to flash at all. They also flash when unlocking with the remote when it is remote started. When I use the factory remote to unlock the DTR lights come on not the headlights. The installer had me try a few things to keep them from flashing or coming on at all but nothing worked. He then told me this was normall and now will not call me back at all. Does this sound normal to anyone? I have installed remote start before and should have done it myself but I work on cars all day long and didnt feel like it. Could I install a databus interface to fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Not sure about the Scosche Unit, but I would want to make sure the Installer hooked to Parking Lites instead.  I bet a trip to him would solve the issue.....
Most likely there is a DATA ByPass of some sort on already.......

Thanks Mo,

Ishould have noted that the parking lights do come and stay on when remote started and I would think that they should flash not the headlights. After talking to him Im not so sure of his ability and not sure if I want him working on it again.

I haven't tried this for a long time...........But Under Remote Start,......does your Chev Headlites stay OFF if the Emergency Brake is applied??  A few years ago they also worked like that.......

Took it back today and he installed the 2way system and everything works fine now. May have been a defective unit. Thanks for the replys.

The remote starter is turning the parking lights on and off at different times, for various reasons. For the most part, it goes like this:

You hit the remote button; the lights flash once to confirm it's about to start. Then the ignition comes on, the car starts......if the unit is hooked up to tach, the parking lights come on immediately; if the installer used voltage sense, they come on about ten seconds later.

On those trucks, if it's (A) dark out, (B) the ignition is on, and (C) the parking lights are off....... the autolamp feature turns the headlights and parking lights on.

Therefore, when the remote start is NOT activating the parking lights, you will see the headlights too.

Mo is also correct about the parking brake on most GM vehicles, like Grand Ams and Malibus----I'm not sure about the trucks. But I like his idea---energize the parking brake wire while the remote starter is on, and the problem should go away.
