Depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles use plastic looming while others use electrical tape or even cloth ( hockey ) tape to cover the wires. In the engine I use slipt tube looming and under the dash I usually like to use eletrical tape and where applicable I use the looming as well.

Dodge likes to use the hockey tape under the dash and as for size, use whatever size you require for the wires that you want to cover up. If it's just a few 18 gauge wires, then using 1/4" is fine. Any more than 3 wires I would go to 1/2" or 3/8.

Mimic what the factory uses is close to stealth as you can get.

Always bare in mind that, pre-prep, is what the end result will look like.

If you simply tape and bundle the wires to OEM wires, anyone can tell.

If on the other hand, you retape / loom all wires in the same bundle, then that offers you the most OEM look.

Thought that clarification needed to be added.
