I just got my alarm today that i had ordered online and i am thinking about installing it myself.  To tell you guys the truth i have no experience in this field.  I only have experience in installing powerwindows, powerlocks, audio head unit and subwoofers.  My friends told me that it's best that i go to a professional to install this, but i rather do it myself because i want to learn how to install alarms and i have nobody to teach me.  So i am planning on doing some major research on installing and starting off this weekend or so to begin my installation.  Again i have a 4 door Accord dx 2001 and a Prestige alarm aps 996 with remote start, and SPAL power locks... I want to know what you guys think and some advice on how I am suppose to start off with the correct tools and such.  I would greatly appreciate any kind of help and to those who think this is a bad idea...I know but i like it better this way so help if you guys can...thanks in advance

based on what you said in the original post, you probly have most of the tools. get a good multimeter (digital) maybe a solder gun too.

The Accord is pretty simple to install. A couple of pointers.

Some of the wiring such as unlock, lock, door trigger are on the passenger fuse box, so some wiring needs to be ran. If you had a stock alarm, you'll need to disable it prior to remote start or else your car will start honking its horn.

But I agree, it sounds like you have the basic necessities, I say give it a shot, the car isn't difficult.
